So, I just gotta ask, what's the deal with the weather this September?

Like, I was all excited to get my fall flannels and sweaters out, but its been consistently over 70 for the whole month. I have so many fun outfits I want to share with y'all but it's just too hot I'd melt if I put them on now.

How is everyone enjoying their last few weeks of summer? Or first few weeks of fall?

I for one had a busy September, but it was busy in a good way. I learned a lot, I did a lot and I scheduled a lot of things I have to look forward too later next month.

First, I had my last first day of school. This semester has gone off to a great start with my last class. (The only class left between me and graduation). I was very aprensive about this class, becuase it is not super relevant to my degree, its just a gen ed course that I didn't have time to fit in somewhere else.

Want to know what it is? History 104, American History from 1860s to Present Day. Is it relevant to Health Sciences? Not sure. Is it fun to actually exercise my brain on a topic I'm not all that familiar with? Absolutely! I am a booksmart queen, give me anything academic and I'll learn that stuff so good.

And before anyone asks the question, History is Purple.

Math is Blue.

English is Green.

Science is Orange.

Extracurriculars are Red, Pink or Yellow.

I never really had a American history class before this, thanks private school education, so I was really nervous about it. But I seem to be doing well and am actually excited for my first exam coming up next week.

Also, it was my parents' anniversary this Month. Aren't they adorable?

Congrats on 29 Years and Counting, Mom and Dad!

Sometimes, when you think about your parents, through the good times and the bad, you just have to think: "How did they do it?" How did my parents get through all the stuff they've been through and make it out to coexist with each other on the other side.

I've got no idea, but I'm very happy they did, because I couldn't imagine having anybody else be my parents.

Like I said earlier, September was a very busy month for me; not only socially but medically as well. This month I have really started to commit to making more of a positive change for myself. I have decided that enough is enough and I am ready to get my life together.

I am learning to advocate for myself medically, telling my doctors when I don't feel right, and when things need to change. This has been a big help, as my self-advocacy has made it so I start seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist soon to help with my endometriosis related pain. Yay!

I have also begun a weight loss journey, I am trying to lose weight to feel better about myself and help manage my diabetes. I have already started by walking on the treadmill at home, and I am amazed at what I can do!

I'm on the move! 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

It's amazing how good you can feel as you start to feel your productiveness snowball into new methods and routines that help you get better physically and mentally.

Also, as you can tell, this September I started the Growing Roots blog to help chronicle my journey of personal growth. I am hopeful that this blog will go well and be an example and inspiration to others who feel stuck in life and ready to move on.

I kept waiting, wondering why other people wanted me to do things in order to move on in life, and were disappointed that I kept staying the same. I thought the next steps would just come to me; that my next big break would knock on my door if I was patient enough.

Unfortunately, that is not how it works most of the time.

I hope that this blog and my story help you to share yours, to grow new roots in productivity, mindfulness and self-love that will last a lifetime.

Thank you for checking out my blog and helping it grow! 🪴🌳
